OMGBA gives recognition to those players who not only show their basketball talents on the court, but also show their talents and hard work in the classroom. OMGBA will recognize all players that achieve a 3.0 (B / comparable) grade average for their first grading period (plus and minus do not count in averaging).
A copy of the report card, with the form below, must be postmarked by the second Saturday in January. No late forms will be processed.
OMGBA encourages all registered players' best efforts in school by providing this recognition opportunity. A Scholastic Achievement application form is included in this handbook.
All registered players, grades 4 through 8, are eligible to apply for this recognition.
PROCEDURE
Information is to be distributed by coaches to players (or parents) at the initial parent / team meeting.
Parent or player must submit a copy of the player's report card from the first grading period of the year by the second Saturday in January.
Awards are distributed to coaches who, in turn, distribute awards to eligible players. Expect awards by mid-March.
Note: Refer to the "Calendar" section of this handbook for your child's program participation to obtain deadline date.
Note: White out report card comments, if desired.
Note: Convert letter grades to numeric values: A=4.0, B=3.0, C=2.0.
Calculate the grade point average (ignore + and -).
The award traditionally consists of a recognition window sticker, pin and entry to win free attendance at a local summer basketball camp.
Parent/Guardian signs form (below).
Return application and copy of report card with postmark no later than second Saturday in January.
