OMGBA offers a very competitive program for the 5th through 8th grade. The traveling program requires a commitment to the program and other teammates by attending most (if not all) practices and games.
Traveling Fees are over and above house fees and vary due to number of games in house compared to the number of traveling tournaments scheduled, etc.
Also, traveling teams get shorts and second jersey, for "home" and "away" games.
Teams are based on gender and grade. Teams are formed through a tryout process (see schedule) and are aligned by the Osseo High School and Maple Grove High School attendance area. While many of OMGBA's House Programs allow open enrollment, our traveling program does not. You may, however, play traveling if you live in the two high school attendance areas but do not attend a District 279 school. See Bylaws section 8 for details.
Anyone wishing to tryout for a traveling position can attend the tryouts for there grade and gender. As their are limited spots on traveling teams, not everyone that attends a tryout will make a team. There is no "playing up" or "playing down".
The season runs from late September (tryouts) thru mid March (state tournaments). Teams play games in tournaments sponsored by organizations around the Twin Cities. Games are played on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays at Twin Cities facilities and sometimes at out state facilities. There is generally two practices a week (depending on school availability). Practices are 1 hour and 20 minutes long and can be held on any week day night from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.
Online registration is available during the sign-up period or you can mail in your registration. Save money by registering online.
Check out our Traveling Team Tryout Guidelines. Our process of picking players is more transparent than ever!
