Middle School Coordinator Job Description

Description

There are 6 coordinators for this program. Combined 5th/6th & 7th/8th grade girls and 5th - 8th grade boys are separate groups. Each coordinator is responsible for their own grade/gender.

Coordinate, organize, and oversee your piece of the program from registration through the All-Star Event.  Find coaches and make sure they complete all necessary requirements to coach. Help to run the player tryout and coach draft.  Attend the coach's meeting and make sure coaches have practice schedules, games schedules, rules, draft procedures, picture information, score sheets and all information required for a successful season. Assign practice schedules monthly and submit them for upload. Review game scores and standings weekly to make sure coaches are reporting.  Be available for questions from coaches or parents regarding the program. Be present at the mid-season and end-of-season tournament to hand out trophies and at the season-end All-Star event.  Attend weekly board meetings.

Responsibilities

  1. October - Recruiting coaches, player selection draft, & Coach's Meeting
    1. Use registration list to contact potential coaches and follow up w/ them to complete the Trusted Coaches Program and background checks.
    2. Assist in running the tryout/draft held near the end of October for team selection.
    3. Provide coaches with final rosters and players contact information after the draft.
    4. Make sure coaches receive ball bags, uniforms, and coach's shirts.
    5. Attend the coaches meeting.
  2. November - Practice begins in November per calendar
    1. Make sure practice schedules are completed and communicated to coaches.
    2. Be available to help with pre-season scrimmages for your age level.
  3. December - Regular season games begin the first Sat in Dec. and the BPAA Tournament is typically the second weekend.
    1. The NWML puts the game schedules together. Make sure coaches are reporting their scores.
    2. It's good to attend a few games if possible.
  4. January - OMGBA Hosted Tournament.
    1. Be available to work a site supervisor shift at the  OMGBA mid-season tournament.
  5. February - End-of-Season Tournament
    1. Help volunteer as a site supervisor at tournament.
    2. Help prepare for the House League All Star event.
    3. Make sure coaches turn in all equipment.
  6. March -OMGBA House League All-star event.
    1. Collect team information for all-star event and Rec-state Tournament.
    2. Work your age/gender court time for the All-star event.
  7. Ongoing - Things to do monthly or as needed.
    1. Attend monthly board meetings - 2nd Monday
    2. Prepare monthly practice schedules.
    3. Answer any questions from coaches and deal with any issues related to parents, players, etc...
    4. Provide any feedback or opportunities to improve this program.
