Middle School Commissioner Job Description

Description

Work with and oversee the 6 Middle School Coordinators to make sure all task are completed.  Lead the OMGBA Committee for the the NWML (North-West Metro League) board and attend/lead those meetings.

Oversee the program from registration through the All-Star Event.  Help to run the player tryout and coach draft.  Attend the coach's meeting and make sure coaches have practice schedules, games schedules, rules, draft procedures, picture packets, score sheets and all information required for their success. Run both the OMGBA Mid-Season Tournament and End-of-Season Play-offs. Be present and help out at the All-Star event.  

 

Responsibilities

  1. October - Oversee that all coordinators secure the proper number of coaches and all coaches complete the Trusted Coaches Program.
    1. Prepare agenda and handouts for the NWML Coaches Orientation. Lead that meeting reviewing rules, policies, scoring, website, etc....
    2. Prepare for and conduct tryout/draft held on the final Saturday of October - *pennies - try-out forms - equipment/uniforms - draft info)
    3. Make sure all equipment, Uniforms, Coaches shirts, picture packets, and schedules are distributed.
  2. November - Practices begin first week of November
    1. Review game schedules for the NWML.
    2. Work with Referee Coordinator on season needs and expectations.
    3. Make sure all extra uniforms are collected from teams with less that 10 players.
  3. December - regular season games being the first Saturday in December
    1. Brooklyn Area Tournament held mid-December (remind OMGBA teams)
    2. Monitor score reporting and standings.
    3. Monitor and facilitate discipline reporting and communication.
  4. January
    1. Begin preparing for OMGBA Boys/Girls Tournament in the end of January.
    2. Work with Trophy and Awards position to order awards.
    3. Assign teams to tournament brackets based on record.
    4. Coordinator workers for admissions, book & clock, & Concessions.
    5. Oversee the tournament including Site Supervision along with the Coordinators.
    6. Work with the other Communities in the NWML on communicating tournament information.
  5. February - Begin preparing for End-of-Season tournament the last weekend in February.
    1. Work with Trophy and Awards position to order awards.
    2. Assign teams to tournament brackets based on record.
    3. Coordinator workers for admissions, book & clock, & Concessions.
    4. Oversee the tournament including Site Supervision along with the Coordinators.
    5. Work with the other Communities in the NWML on communicating tournament information.
  6. March - Organize the All-Star event.
    1. Oversee the coordinators in the collection of All-Star players and shooting contestants.
    2. Oversee ordering of All-star t-shirts and awards.
    3. Run the All-Star event in early March.
    4. Coordinate signing All-star teams up for the Rec State Tournament with MYAS.
    5. Monitor the collection of equipment from all teams.
    6. Organize and Analyze season end evaluations through Survey Monkey.

Monthly Tasks

  1. Respond to coordinator/coach questions/concerns
  2. Monitor score reporting and disciple reporting
  3. Handle all NWML Communication with all Communities.
  4. Report on program at the monthly board meetings
