Senior High Commissioner Job Description

Description

Work with and oversee any Senior High Coordinator to make sure all task are completed.  Represent OMGBA on the NWSL (North-West Suburban League) board and attend those meetings.

Oversee the program from registration through the All-Star Event.  Help to run the player tryout and coach draft.  Attend the coach's meeting and make sure coaches have practice schedules, games schedules, rules, draft procedures, score sheets and all information required for their success. Make sure practice schedules are assigned monthly communicated. Run both the OMGBA Mid-Season Jamboree and End-of-Season Play-offs. Be present and help out at the All-Star event.  

Responsibilities

Report monthly to the board - Give an over-all update of how things are going.

September/October

  1. Attend a fall NWSHL meeting

November

  1. Obtain copy of the registration list for each grade after the Senior High teams have been selected (get Senior High rosters from Athletic Departments at Maple Grove and Osseo Senior Highs).
  2. Use registration list to obtain any necessary coaches
  3. Provide high school coaches with registration information on OMGBA to provide to players that do not make the high school teams.
  4. Prepare for tryout/draft held on the first Sunday of December - *pennies - try-out forms - equipment/uniforms - draft info).

December

  1. Attend a NWSHL coordination meeting before any draft to select the number of teams from each community by division and gender.
  2. Practices - as many as can be placed between the draft date and holiday break
  3. Schedule officials for regular season games (all sites agreed to at the fall NWSHL meeting)
  4. Prepare for coaches meeting (held the first week of January- before the first game)
  5. Prepare NWSHL game schedule, send to coaches and referee scheduler
  6. Keeping in mind that even numbers of three and separating the girls from boys, for referees
  7. Distribute practice schedules

January - February

  1. Attend some games in OMGBA gyms, especially the first and during the playoffs.
  2. Take and summarize the game disqualification. Talk, and console if needed, players that get suspended from a game.
  3. Assign & distribute practice schedules 
  4. Agree to playoff bracketing with other communities
  5. Organize End-of-Season Tournament (Boys and Girls)
  6. Order trophies for end of the season
  7. Place boys in one school and girls in another.
  8. Subcontract for Police for the boys playoff games

March

  1. Hold End of the Season Tournament
  2. Supervise Tournament
  3. Pass out Trophies
  4. Address any problems at the tournament
  5. Collect equipment
  6. Coordinate & Run All-Star games and half time events
