OMGBA offers a very competitive program for the 4th through 8th grade. The traveling program requires a commitment to the program and other teammates by attending most (if not all) practices and games.
5th -8th grade traveling fees are over and above the house fees that are paid at the time of registration and include uniform shorts, 2 jerseys, reversible practice pinnies and 10 paid tournaments.
OMGBA uses the DIBS Volunteer System for volunteer requirements for 5th - 8th Grade Traveling basketball families. For more information see the "Volunteer Info" tab .
4th grade traveling fees are collected in December once a player makes a team. All players trying out for traveling must have participated in the fall 4th grade house league program. IF YOU MAKE A TRAVEL TEAM, YOU MUST PLAY ON THAT TEAM. Players will wear their house league uniform and typically participate in 5 paid tournaments. For more information click HERE and scroll down to 4th grade.
Teams are based on gender and grade. Teams are formed through a tryout process. Generally, with certain exceptions, any player living in or attending a public school in the Osseo / Maple Grove attendance area is eligible to tryout. Players from Osseo and Maple Grove High School attendance areas are combined on travel teams.
Anyone wishing to tryout for a traveling position must attend the tryouts for their grade and gender. As there are limited spots on traveling teams, not everyone that attends a tryout will make a team. There is no "playing up" or "playing down".
For 5th -8th grade, the season runs from late September (tryouts) thru mid March (state tournaments). The 4th grade travel season runs from the end of December (tryouts) thru mid March (state tournaments). Teams play games in tournaments sponsored by organizations around the Twin Cities. Games are played on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays at Twin Cities facilities and sometimes at out state facilities. There is generally two practices a week (depending on school availability). Practices are 1 to 2 hours long and can be held on any week day night from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.
