3rd & 4th Grade House League

The 3rd and 4th grade House League program is designed to introduce basketball skills and fundamentals, while promoting a love for the game. For many, this is a first time basketball experience. 3rd and 4th graders are on separate teams in the fall and together in winter extended season.

*** All participants in 3rd and 4th grade will use a 27.5 size ball and shoot free-throws from 12 ft.***

The Fall program runs from mid October thru mid December.  The season will be extended into the winter for all 3rd graders and for 4th graders that will not be playing winter traveling. You must play in the fall to continue to play the winter extended season.

Practices: There will be two practices per week.  Practices are 1 hour long and can be held on any week day night from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  Practices for 3rd & 4th graders fluctuate Monday - Friday as many kids have religion, piano, and other activities on the same day every week.  There are two practices per week and they are always on a different day so if you have to miss a practice once in awhile, it will still work out.   Schedules can not be made until teams are formed and we know how many teams we have. Practices are held at local elementary schools.  Practice schedules will be uploaded to individual team page calendars after the coaches Meeting.

Games: Games are held on Saturdays.  Each team will typically play one or two games each Saturday.  Game times are dependent upon the number of teams in the program.  Plan to play games between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm.  There will be a tournament and awards will be presented at the conclusion of the season.

Game and tournament schedules can be found by clicking HERE for the Fall and HERE for the Extended Program.

On-line registration is available during the sign-up period.

Team Formation is completed in early October. Fall teams are formed by school when possible.  Friend requests are only honored if they are reciprocated and from the same school. Requests to play on a specific team will not be honored. Coaches will receive roster and schedules at a coaches meeting Mid-October.  The coaches will be calling players to let them know their team rosters and their first practice time shortly after this meeting.

If you have further questions regarding this program please email the Elementary Commissioner at elementarycommissioner@omgba.net.

While every effort is taken to ensure correctness, this is subject to change without notice.

3rd & 4th Grade Extended House Program

All players signed up to play basketball in the fall will be eligible to continue to play through the winter either at a higher level or for more practice.  4th graders are given the opportunity to tryout and play a traveling schedule in the winter and will just be assessed an additional tournament fee.  4th graders that do not play traveling and all 3rd graders will be sent an email in early January to sign up for an extended house season. If players decide to continue to play through the winter, they will be assessed an additional fee for the additional gym time, referees and awards.  All uniforms are paid for and distributed in the fall. You must play in the fall to play in the winter extended program.

How Teams are Formed in the Extended Program

Extended teams are formed through an OMGBA draft process.  3rd and 4th graders are together on teams.  Player or coach requests will not be honored.  The draft process is used to help create more even teams by ability and not school or friend request.  This is different from the fall and provides the players to meet new friends outside of their school. The draft will be held on a Sunday evening in Mid-January.
